Siliguri, 02nd July: A massive fire broke out at a furniture godown in the Khola Chand Fapri area of Dabgram I Anchal in Siliguri on Thursday afternoon, causing major property damage.
According to reports, employees noticed flames suddenly erupting from inside the godown, triggering panic at the site. The fire spread rapidly before fire tenders could reach the location.
Three fire engines were deployed and, after several hours of effort, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
A large quantity of stored materials inside the godown was completely destroyed in the fire. However, no casualties have been reported.
Preliminary estimates suggest significant financial loss. Initial investigation points to a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
