Siliguri, 30th July: A fire broke out last night at a saree shop situated in a multi-storey building in Seth Srilal Market located on Sevoke Road in Siliguri. Upon receiving the news, two fire engines rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after hours of effort. Nonetheless, the items kept in the shop were burnt to ashes.
The flame was initially spotted by the owner of a hotel located in the same building. The fire department was immediately informed and two fire engines along with the personnel of Panitanki Out Post reached the spot. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Deputy Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Ranjan Sarkar, opposition leader Amit Jain, Ward Councilor Manju Shri Paul and other leaders also reached the spot.
