Rajganj, 13th January: A tragic incident surfaced where a father and son lost life their lives in a horrifying road accident that occurred due to dense fog in the Dasdarga area of the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway (NH). In addition, the deceased’s wife sustained significant injuries in the incident. The deceased father has been identified as Deepak Das (30) and son Dhiman Das (8). The incident led to an atmosphere of mourning in the Mohit Nagar area of Jalpaiguri.
According to reports, on Friday night, Deepak Das, a resident of Mohit Nagar in Jalpaiguri, was on his way to Dasdarga on a scooty with his wife Anima Das, and son Dhiman. Due to dense fog, a lorry coming from the opposite direction missed sighting the scooty and rammed into the two-wheeler. Consequently, all the occupants were severely injured.
Subsequently, the locals rescued the injured and took them to Jalpaiguri Super Speciality Hospital, where the medical professionals declared Deepak and his son dead. Later, given the critical condition of the woman, she was referred to a private hospital in Siliguri.
Meanwhile, after the incident the lorry fled from the scene prompting the locals to protest by staging a road blockade on the NH, demanding to provide signals on the road. Upon receiving the news, the cops of Jalpaiguri Kotwali police station arrived at the spot and brought the situation to normalcy.
