Fake account user demands money in name of Siliguri Police Commissioner DP Singh

Siliguri, 10th May: With an increase in fake accounts and online scams, Siliguri Metropolitan Police Commissioner DP Singh also became a victim of cyber fraud.


Reportedly, some fraudsters are using the Commissioner’s name and have created fake social media account. They are reaching out to people and are asking for money.

As soon as the matter came to light, the Police Commissioner wrote, “Dear friends, Someone has created my fake FB profile and has sent friend request to others. He is using the same picture. He is demanding money through messenger chat. One of my friend has informed me. I am taking proper legal action. Pl ignore any request”


Meanwhile, cyber teams have started the investigation regarding the high profile case. It is to be noted, cases of duping and extorting money from people through fake accounts in the name of police officers are not new. Earlier, a similar case was reported where some miscreants demanded money through a fake account in the name of East Zone ACP Swapna Sarkar.
