EVM’s locked in Jalpaiguri’s strong room, guarded by paramilitary forces

Jalpaiguri, 20th April: The voting for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections has ended at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. The fate of 12 candidates of Jalpaiguri Lok Sabha constituency, as decided by the citizens through EVMs, has now been locked in the strong room. The results would come into light on June 4.


It is to be noted that the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls has been conducted peacefully, leaving out a few instances of unrest. The EVMs are now kept safe in the strong room under the strict supervision of the paramilitary forces.

Reportedly, a strong room has been set up in the Jalpaiguri campus of the North Bengal University, where agents and candidates of all parties arrived on Saturday morning. Significantly, the EVMs were sealed in their presence.
