Everest Day celebrated on low key in Siliguri

Siliguri,29th May: The 68th Everest Day was observed in front of Tenzing Norgay statue in Siliguri’s Darjeeling more,on Saturday. The ceremony was held on low key in view of the ongoing pandemic.


SMC administrator Goutam Deb and other officials paid homage to the statue of Tenzing Norgay with a garland. The BoA at SMC assured that if the pandemic ends, Everest Day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm next year.

Goutam Deb said that the demand to give Bharat Ratna to Tenzing Norgay has been coming up for a long time. Earlier, the Center was also informed about the matter. ‘We will once again make an appeal to the Chief Minister for asking the Center to honor Bharat Ratna to Tenzing Norgay.’,he added.
