Elephant terror continues to torment residents of Mantadari Gram Panchayat

Rajganj, 17th July: Herds of wild elephants continue to stray into human settlements in Rajganj. The villagers are forced to bear the brunt of the wild elephants’ anger every other day. 


Residents living along Teesta riverbanks under Mantadari Gram Panchayat are spending days and sleepless nights in terror due to the constant attack of wild animals. 

On Friday night too, a wild elephant in Mantadari area of ​​Rajganj created a ruckus and damaged several houses in Milan Pally. Radharani Sarkar, a resident of the area, said that everyone in the village was asleep. She was woken up by a loud noise around 11 o’clock at night and saw an elephant standing in the verandah of her house. 


Another resident named Prahlad Sarkar said that elephant attacks take place in the area almost every day. A few days ago, a man was allegedly killed in an attack by a wild elephant. The locals demanded forest personnel to increase patrolling in the area.
