Naxalbari, 22nd November: An elderly man was trampled to death by five elephants near Naxalbari Merryview tea garden. The deceased has been identified as Julius Oraon (77).
It has been learned that Oraon was attacked by 5 elephants while tying cattle in the area adjacent to Merry view Garden of Naxalbari, on Monday morning. Upon receiving the news, the locals informed the Bagdogra Forest department.
Upon receiving the news, the forest department workers reached the spot. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Naxalbari Hospital.
Meanwhile, the body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. The whole incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
