Eight shops burnt to ashes in a fire in Ranidanga-Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 26th March: Eight shops were burnt to ashes in a horrific fire in Ranidanga under Naxalbari block. Reportedly, the said fire started at around 3.30 am on Saturday. Several clothes, grocery, mobile and fruit shops located in front of Ranidanga SSB camp were completely gutted in fire. 
When the matter came to light, the locals tried to extinguish the fire from a water tank of Ranidanga SSB Headquarters. Later, three engines of Matigara Fire Brigade reached the spot and doused the fire. 
Traders believe the fire was caused by a short circuit. One of the victims, Neelu Saha, said that the fire has caused a loss of lakhs of rupees. The traders have appealed for government help.
