E-rickshaws in Siliguri to operate on designated routes, stickers applied for identification

Siliguri, 27th September: In a special initiative to reduce traffic congestion ahead of Durga Puja, Siliguri Metropolitan Police has introduced a new plan for the city’s e-rickshaws (totos).

Reports indicate that four routes have been designated for registered e-rickshaws in the city. To differentiate these routes, stickers of four distinct colors – blue, green, yellow, and purple, are being applied to the e-rickshaws.

On Friday, the police began marking totos with these stickers. Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar personally applied stickers on several e-rickshaws, with DCP Traffic Biswa Chand Thakur, ADCP Traffic Avishek Majumder, and other police officials present.

In addition to route regulation, this move addresses recent rumors of abductions involving totos. To ensure passenger safety, QR Codes are being installed on e-rickshaws. Passengers can scan these QR Codes to access the driver’s information.

Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar reiterated that assigning specific routes and adding QR Codes will enhance the safety and security of passengers by providing easy access to driver information.
