Siliguri, 03rd March: It is often sighted that the villagers enter the gambling den while returning home from work which affects their household finances. The youths are also addicted to drugs, these days. To fight against such issues, the women, in the Petki village of the Chathat Gram Panchayat of the Phansidewa block, have constituted a body under the name Durga Mahila Vahini.
The members of the Durga Mahila Vahini stated that they will step up to help any woman who faces problems in any part of the village. They further stated that gambling and illegal liquor will not be tolerated in the village. Meanwhile, Bapan Das, a social worker, stated that if the women step up against such issues, then they will be able to gain equal respect in society.
