Siliguri, 23rd May: Police achieved a major success in their ongoing crackdown against narcotics in Siliguri after Bhakti Nagar Police arrested one person from the Haidarpara area under Ward No. 40 for allegedly running a drug trade under the guise of a shop. The arrested accused has been identified as Ranjit Singh.
According to police sources, the accused had allegedly been operating a narcotics business from his residence for a long time while using a shop as a cover. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at his house on Saturday and recovered a huge quantity of cannabis.
Police also seized cash from the premises, which is suspected to be linked to the illegal trade.
The accused is currently being interrogated, while police are trying to identify others connected to the case. Further investigation is underway by Bhakti Nagar Police Station.
