DRI arrest four with cash, gold worth over Rs 3 crores in Siliguri

Siliguri, 29th December: The DRI arrested four men with gold worth crores. The arrested accused have been identified as Bablu Kumar Paswan (35), Sonu Kumar Rajak (31), Prakash Biswas (42), and Tapan Kumar (31).


It has been learned that on Tuesday, the DRI received a tip-off that two men were leaving for Bihar from Siliguri with illegal gold. Based on the information an operation was launched and the duo was arrested at Hashmi Chowk. A search was conducted and 2 kg 677 grams of gold was recovered from their possession.

After questioning the duo, the names of two more accused individuals came to light. Acting on the retrieved information, a shop was raided in Hillcart Road, from where a large quantity of foreign gold was recovered. A total of 7 kg 273 grams of gold worth 3 crores 50 lakh 32 thousand 586 rupees was recovered during the operation. Besides, 1 crore 1 lakh 38 thousand 300 rupees cash was recovered. DRI has started an investigation into the whole incident.
