Dispute over immersion of Jagadhatri Puja in Tufanganj, one dead, four injured

Cooch Behar, 27th November: A tragic incident surfaced in which a dispute between two villages regarding the immersion of Jagadhatri Puja left one dead while four others were injured. The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Mechkoka area of Bara Kodali I Gram Panchayat under Tufanganj-II Block.


Reportedly, on Sunday night, a dispute broke out between the people of two villages regarding the immersion of Jagadhatri Puja. Subsequently, the dispute escalated into a fight and both parties were accused of assault. Consequently, five individuals involved in the brawl were severely injured. Upon receiving the news, the cops of the Baxirhat police station arrived at the spot.

Following this, the injured were recovered and taken to Tufanganj Divisional Hospital, where one of the injured Anup Dakua (35) was declared as brought dead. Meanwhile, police vigilance has been heightened in the area and two suspects were detained during the night.
