Dispute over fishing turns violent in Rajganj, one injured; accused arrested

Rajganj, 25th June: A dispute between two families over fishing led to a violent attack in Gokulvita village of Ambari under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj block on Tuesday night, leaving one person seriously injured.

According to local sources, Dhananjay Sarkar, a resident of Gokulvita and a businessman, was fishing in a culvert near his house on Tuesday afternoon when a disagreement broke out with his neighbour, Ashok Lohar. Villagers intervened and settled the matter temporarily.

However, later in the evening, while Dhananjay was bathing, it is alleged that Ashok Lohar and his son attacked him with a sharp weapon, striking his head. Dhananjay sustained serious injuries and was rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) by his family.

His family members stated that though the earlier argument seemed resolved, the attack came unexpectedly and demanded a proper investigation and strict punishment for those involved.

Following a complaint filed at the Bhorer Alo police station, police arrested Ashok Lohar from his residence the same night. Investigation into the incident is underway, while no comment has been made by the accused’s family.
