Devastation of heavy rain: Raju Bista requests all to unite to coordinate relief efforts

Darjeeling, 20th October: The relentless rain from the past few days has caused widespread devastation in the Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars region.

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista has been closely monitoring the situation and coordinating relief and rescue efforts with the administration. As of now three teams of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) have been deployed.

“While the district administration in Darjeeling and Kalimpong are doing their best to provide assistance to those in need, I fear that their response is woefully inadequate, given the extent of the crisis,” Bista stated. He further informed that he has urged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to immediately deploy disaster management teams, civil defence personnel, additional resources, and manpower to help those stranded and provide timely relief to those in need.

Bista requested all social organizations, local bodies, political parties, NGOs, and individuals to remain united and work together to ensure those in need of help and support are not left wanting.
