Decomposed body of railway employee recovered from railway quarters under NJP PS area

Siliguri, 26th June: The decomposed body of a railway employee was recovered from a railway quarter under the jurisdiction of NJP Police Station, triggering panic in the area. The incident came to light in the Yuva Bharati Club area.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Arindam Roy Barman, an employee of the Indian Railways who resided in a railway quarter under the NJP Police Station area.

According to family members, Arindam had not reported for duty for the past four days. Following his prolonged absence, railway authorities reportedly contacted his family in Cooch Behar. After learning about the matter, his mother asked his elder brother, Amitabh Roy Barman, to visit the railway quarter and check on him.

When Amitabh reached the residence and opened the door, he noticed a strong foul smell emanating from the room. Suspecting something was wrong, he immediately informed NJP Police Station. Police personnel rushed to the spot and recovered Arindam’s decomposed body from inside the room.

Local sources said that Arindam was married and is survived by a daughter.

The body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Police said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report is received.

According to the deceased’s elder brother, Arindam had been suffering from depression for some time. However, the actual cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
