Decomposed body of man found in a house in Bagdogra

Siliguri, 10th July: Sensation prevailed after the decomposed body of a man was found lying on the bed inside a house in Bhujiapani area under Bagdogra police station. The deceased has been identified as Ram Krishna Gurung of Hasimara. The police have detained a youth identified as Rahul Jha and the owner of the house for questioning.


According to the local people, Rahul Jha lived on rent in Sunil Barikdar’s house. About three days ago, Rahul had brought his friend Ram Krishna Gurung to the said house. Later, the neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from Rahul’s room. They informed the house owners and together went to find out the cause of the stench this morning. When they opened Rahul’s room, a blast of nasty smell and swarms of flies came out of the room. They noticed something lying on the bed covered with a bedsheet. Considering the matter to be grave, the Bagdogra police station was informed about the incident immediately.

On receiving the news, the police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The rotting body was recovered from the said house and was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. According to the condition of the body, police suspect the said person must have died about three to four days ago.


At present, the tenant Rahul Jha and the owner of the house have been taken into custody for interrogation.
