Siliguri, July 15: A joint operation of DD and SOG exposed the illegal call centre racket, on Friday. The three-story building in Sevoke Road housed the operation of a scam call centre disguised under the banner of digital media for a long time.
Upon receiving the news, the team of DD and SOG launched a campaign in the call centre under the leadership of DD’s ACP Rajen Chettri. After interrogating for about one and half hours, the team detained 21 women and 6 men, including the call centre’s owner.
A digital media banner had been put up outside the house of the three-story building and the business was said to be associated with many media entities. Sensation has prevailed in the town after the team exposed the scam. DD’s team are probing the case.
