Siliguri, 06th April: A team of Detective Department (DD) and Bagdogra police station arrested the alleged kingpin of a cattle smuggling racket. The arrested has been identified as 30-year-old MD Salam.
The matter came to light after the Bagdogra police busted an attempt of cattle smuggling and rescued the animals from a pickup van. In this case, the pickup van driver was arrested and presented in court. The accused was taken on remand and during interrogation, the name of MD Salam came to the fore. After which the DD jumped into action.
While investigating the matter, the DD received a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of Salam last night. Acting promptly, the officials nabbed MD Salam from the Kestopur Halal Basti area with the help of the personnel of Bagdogra police station. The DD appealed for the custody of the accused MD Salam after producing him in court today.
