Siliguri, 20th February: The city is in a state of disarray due to the strike being staged by the Safai workers. Even on the fourth day, the protestors have not yet joined work. Hence, several youths took to the streets to clean the garbage lying all over the city. Already, many ward co-ordinators and traders took to the streets with brooms to keep their areas clean.
Ronit Talukder, a member of the Student Society of Siliguri, said that they will clean some of the city’s main roads today. If necessary, they will take to the streets in the coming days as well.
Besides, they requested the protestors to return to work as soon as possible. At the same time, he urged the citizens to work unitedly and clean the city.
