Darjeeling Municipality will be going to polls on February 27

Darjeeling, 04th February: Darjeeling Municipality along with 107 other civic bodies of West Bengal will be going to polls on February 27. Following the announcement, the district administration held an all-party meeting in Darjeeling on Thursday.


According to the notification issued by the state government, the filing of nominations, which started at 11 am on Thursday, will continue till February 09. February 10 is the date of scrutiny and February 12 is the last date of withdrawal of nominations. The polls will be held on February 27 from 7 am to 5 pm. While the counting of votes will be held on March 8.

In view of the ongoing pandemic, door to door campaigning with the highest number of 5 persons including the candidate will be allowed. In open spaces, meetings can be held with 500 persons maximum. Rallies and bike rallies will not be allowed.


With the announcement of the polls, political parties of the hills including Trinamool Congress, Hamro Party, Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha have already started the groundwork for the elections.
