Siliguri, 08th January: The 24-hour nationwide strike against issues like Central Government policies, Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and National Population Register (NPR) by 10 Central Trade Unions is effective today. The Congress and the Left Front is supporting the strike in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles decreased significantly today as compared to other days.
The strike supporters stated that the ‘Bandh’ has been called for the benefit of the laborers. But a crowd of laborers was witnessed in Siliguri’s Jhankar More and Jalpai More, today. When these laborers were addressed, they stated that they had to work as usual to earn their living. They support the ‘Bandh’, but they are helpless in front of their hunger.
