Kharibari, 15th April: A Bangladeshi national was arrested with a fake Aadhaar card from Indo-Nepal border at Panitanki in Kharibari. In connection to the incident, an Indian national was also arrested for helping the said Bangladeshi man.
Reportedly, the duo tried to deceive border security while entering Nepal claiming to go for an eye test. They produced a counterfeit Aadhaar Card and Covid certificates. The soldiers of SSB’s 41st Battalion grew suspicious of one of the two men and interrogated him. This is when they learned about the entire affair.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Masudur Rahman. He is a resident of Kudi village in Bangladesh. On the other hand, the Indian citizen has been identified as Ekramul Haque, a resident of Cooch Behar. A counterfeit Aadhaar card and Bangladeshi passport were recovered from Masudur Rahman. The accused were then handed over to Kharibari police. They were produced in the Siliguri court today.
