Cricket tournament to commence from December 28 at Kanchenjunga Stadium, Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th December: During a press conference at Kanchenjunga Stadium on Monday, the members of the Siliguri sub-division sports council stated that they will organize a First Division League cum Knockout T20 Cricket Tournament which will commence from December 28 at Kanchenjunga Stadium.


It has been learned that the tournament will last for 65 days. A total of 31 teams will participate in the tournament.

Manoj Verma, cricket secretary of Siliguri sub-division sports council, said that tournaments were suspended for two years due to a pandemic situation. From now on, there will be two matches a day. 9 teams are participating in Super Division and 22 teams are participating in First Division. The prize money in the Super Division is Rs 30,000 for the champion team, Rs 20,000 for the runners, and Rs 5,000 for the fair play team. Besides, there is Rs 20,000 for the champion in the first division, Rs 10,000 for the runners, and Rs 5,000 for the fair play. All arrangements will be made according to the government safety measures.


Cricket Secretary of Siliguri Sub-Divisional Sports Council Manoj Verma, Football Secretary Swarup Bhattacharya, Assistant Secretary Sajal Nandi, Ex-Football Secretary Manas Dey, Working President of Sub-Divisional Sports Council Nantu Paul, and others were present at the press conference.
