Siliguri, 29th November: CPI(M) leaders and activists, under the banner of the Darjeeling District Committee, staged a protest on Friday against the alleged failures of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The demonstration began with a procession from Anil Biswas Bhavan, followed by a meeting where leaders voiced various complaints and highlighted the corporation’s shortcomings.
Reportedly, a heavy police presence was deployed in front of the Municipal Corporation to maintain order during the protest. The CPI(M) presented ten demands as part of their agitation.
Prominent figures at the protest included Darjeeling District CPI(M) Secretary Jibesh Sarkar, veteran CPI(M) leader Ashok Bhattacharya, Councillor Nurul Islam, and other party leaders and activists.
