COVID’s second wave hits tourism sector, traders stare at loss yet again

Siliguri, 25th May: The second wave of coronavirus is prevailing in the country, with more than a lakh positive cases being reported daily. In such a situation, the tourism sector has once again come to a standstill. Due to this, people associated with the industry are suffering economic losses.


North Bengal is one of the tourist destinations of West Bengal. Tourist swarm in the region throughout the year, especially in Darjeeling and Dooars. But like last year, the second wave of COVID-19 has hit the tourism industry. This is clearly depicted by the scenario in the New Jalpaiguri station. Hoteliers, tourist taxi drivers, autos and rickshaw drivers and almost all the people associated with the tourism business are staring at a grave financial crisis.
