COVID restrictions: Barbers demand compensation for loss in business

Siliguri, 06th January: The state government has imposed strict restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All educational institutions, gyms, beauty parlors, and salons have been closed down.

The barbers are facing extreme trouble since January 03 and are constantly demanding compensation. The members of the Uttar Banga Khourokar Shil Samannay Samiti NJP branch and Narsundar Samiti demanded a monthly allowance of Rs 12,000 and the formation of a barber board.

The members of the organization marched from Battalion more towards Uttarkanya to hand over the memorandum. However, the rally was stopped by the NJP police. Later, a two-member team handed over the memorandum to Uttarkanya’s officer.

Bidhan Sarkar, vice president of the organization’s North Bengal branch, said that if their demands are not met within seven days, they would stop their work indefinitely and join a larger movement.
