Siliguri, 15th July: Unemployment has become one of the biggest problems in our country. It has not only added to the stress but also birthed many such swindlers in the time of technology. They bluff and entice the unemployed persons who are already stressed enough with a lack of opportunities and thus, easily make them prone to their trap.
A case of such swindling was reported in Siliguri where one such couple duped several people on the pretext of giving them government and army jobs. On the complaint of one such person, Siliguri police arrested the couple from Court More area last night.
The arrested couple has been identified as husband Sanjiv Kumar (42) and wife Piyali Das Gupta (38). It is alleged that the couple would look for unemployed youths together and then would extort a hefty amount of money from them in the name of providing government jobs in institutions like MES.
The couple has allegedly duped more than 12 unemployed job seekers in Siliguri. It is reported, that the couple’s plan overturned the other directions when they tried duping a businessperson. The couple allegedly took a good sum of money from the businessperson in exchange for a government contract. When he did not get the contract, he lodged a complaint of fraud against the couple at Siliguri Police Station.
The police then started investigating and probing the matter. Many important revelations were shed light during the investigation. Based on tip-off last night, the couple was nabbed after running a campaign. A case has been registered under several sections against them and were presented before the Siliguri court today.
