Coronavirus knocks on the Indo-Nepal border, State Health Department issues vigilance

Siliguri, 28th January: The state health department has issued an alert in the Indo-Nepal bordering areas Panitanki and Pashupati Nagar after detecting suspected coronavirus cases. The State Health Department has set up a special health check-up camp in the Indo-Nepal border.


Considering that a significant number of tourists from China and people from Nepal cross the Indian border every year, the State Health Department has issued a high alert regarding the coronavirus. A health check-up camp has been set up for tourists visiting the Kakarbhitta, Pashupati area along the Indo-Nepal border.

According to the information, if any coronavirus infected individual is found during the checkup camp, they will be immediately referred to the North Bengal Medical College- Hospital. Special preparations have been made in NBMCH to inhibit the virus. A 6-bed isolation ward has been prepared in the hospital. A rapid response team has also been formed along with a complete system of sample testing of the coronavirus if found in people. The NBMCH is fully prepared to fight the coronavirus.
