Controversy erupts in Rabindra Bharati University regarding the Holi celebrations

Kolkata, 06th March: A controversy has erupted in West Bengal over an act that is being called ‘obscene’ and ‘vulgar’ by many. The incident reportedly took place during the Basanta Utsav on the Rabindra Bharati university campus.

At the Rabindra Bharati university campus in Kolkata, some female students were photographed with a set of words, painted on their bare backs. The words are from a famous Rabindrasangeet, ‘chaand uthechhilo gogon-ey’ (the moon rose high in the sky). However, the line was prefixed with an abusive word.

Since then, controversies erupted on social media regarding the action of the students.

I don’t know what kind of students are they and I really don’t understand whether these students have any mind at all or they are some mindless beings (or creatures) …. Are they so frustrated inside that they have to feel happy in that ‘obscene’ way and have to name this happiness as the freedom of self-expression ?! I hope I’m still in a civilized society where we should still maintain some control & restriction on using our language and expressing ourselves through language …. Those students probably don’t have any sense at all … I would also like to know that are they so empty that for their obscene happiness/entertainment/enjoyment, they have to distort the beauty of Tagore’s lines ?! Why don’t they create sth on their own to make fun of it ?! Even their attempts to be happy are untrue & impure over & above all their untrue & impure ideas & thoughts. Nothing is true in them in anyway except their conscious efforts to make sth obscene just for the sake of cheap enjoyment.
