Congress protest against UP’s Hathras case and Centre’s Farm Bill in Siliguri

Siliguri, 02nd October: The Darjeeling District Congress staged a protest rally and road blockade in Siliguri against UP’s Hathras gang-rape incident and Centre’s new farm bill.


The rally commenced in front of the Congress district office at Hashmi Chowk, toured Hill Cart Road, and concluded at Hashmi Chowk. After the rally, the road was also blocked for a while. Darjeeling District Congress President and Matigara Naxalbari MLA Shankar Malakar was present during the rally.

Malakar expressed outrage towards the manner in which the Yogi government detained Rahul Gandhi yesterday in Uttar Pradesh. He described the incident to be unacceptable. In objection to this, protests are reportedly being staged all over Bengal today. On the other hand, demonstrations were also held against the new farm bill.
At the end of the rally, the Congress leaders and activists burnt the effigy of the Prime Minister.
