Siliguri, 27th May: The West Bengal Government will be appointing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the Chancellor of all State universities. The resolution was passed by the state Cabinet on Thursday. Presently, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar is the Chancellor.
Opposing the decision, Darjeeling district SUCI members demonstrated in front of the SUCI district office in Siliguri on Friday. They demanded that instead of the Governor or the Chief Minister, an educationist should be appointed for the post.
