CM “reluctant” to arrest Bimal Gurung? Left, Congress likely to move High Court

Kolkata, 29th October: Accusing the Mamata Banerjee led government of “hesitating” to arrest Bimal Gurung, the fugitive Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader who recently made an appearance in Kolkata on after an exile of three years since 2017, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Indian National Congress are likely to knock the doors of Calcutta High Court against the CM.


The duo is set to form an alliance to contest the upcoming Bengal assembly polls. While addressing the media, Bikash Bhattacharya, CPI(M) MP and senior lawyer informed that the parties may move the court against the state government for its “reluctance to arrest Bimal Gurung” who has been charged with several cases under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and killings of police personnel.

“It’s a game plan of Trinamool Congress just to gain political mileage ahead of assembly polls. We are verifying all papers related to the charges made against him by the administration,” Bhattacharya added.
