CM Mamata Banerjee expressed outrage over UP’s Hathras gang-rape incident

Siliguri, 1 October: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed outrage over the increasing number of violence against women in the Yogi state. “Those who talk about law and order in Bengal should look at Uttar Pradesh,” Banerjee stated during the administrative meeting in Uttar Kanya yesterday.

“In Uttar Pradesh, not only the victim was raped then her body was burnt. If there is a crime Police should investigate. What kind of rule is this? Sometimes minorities are tortured, sometimes ‘dalits’ are tortured and sometimes ‘adivasis’ are tortured”, the Chief Minister said.

It is to recall that the gang-rape victim from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, lost her life on Tuesday morning at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.

Allegedly, her body was cremated by the UP police in the middle of the night. Her family was kept locked up and not given a chance to bring her home for the last time and give her last rites.
