A decision was taken to establish a regional office of the North Bengal Development Department at Gazole in Malda to coordinate development work across Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Dakshin Dinajpur.
Road safety was also a major focus, particularly in the aftermath of the Maynaguri bus accident. Measures include enhanced speed monitoring systems in NBSTC buses, improved surveillance mechanisms, removal of barricades on National Highways after night-time accidents, and CCTV installation in BLRO offices.
