Civic volunteer hangs self a month before his wedding in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th February: In a tragic turn of events, a civic volunteer committed suicide a month before his wedding ceremony in Siliguri. The deceased individual has been identified as Brij Kumar Paswan, a resident of Diesel Colony under Ward No. 01 of SMC. The incident has transformed the joyous atmosphere into profound mourning.


According to the information gathered, the deceased Brij Kumar Paswan, a civic volunteer by profession, was to engage in holy matrimony on the 11th of March. Reportedly, the individual had arrived at his brother’s place to sleep after lunch on Friday afternoon. Later, in the evening, when his brother called for him, he did not receive any response. Alarmed, his brother broke open the door and found the body of Brij Kumar hanging from the noose.

The family members immediately rushed him to a private hospital located under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station where the medical professionals declared him dead. The body was later transported to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). The sudden and unexpected demise of Brij Kumar has left his family distraught. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
