City auto drivers stage protest in Fulbari against plying of Totos amid lockdown

Rajganj, 19th May: E-rickshaws (toto) were spotted plying on the streets of Fulbari violating the lockdown imposed across the state. As the administration is not taking any action against it, the city auto drivers staged a protest in Fulbari on Wednesday and demanded that they too should be allowed to resume their services.


A 15-day strict lockdown has started in the state from May 16. Apart from emergency and essential good vehicles, no other vehicle is allowed to ply on the streets as per the guidelines. The city auto drivers of Rajganj alleged that totos are plying in Fulbari violating the lockdown.


City auto drivers said that the state government has imposed strict restrictions to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. ‘We are abiding by the rules. But Totos are plying breaching the protocols and police are not taking any action. Hence, we too shall resume services if totos continue to run.’, they stated.

Meanwhile, the Toto drivers said that they are running their Totos to earn a living in this helpless situation.
