Chopra rape case: Minister Goutam Deb meets the mourning family of the victim

Islampur, 20th July: The brutal rape and murder case of a teenager in Chopra has created a stir in the entire region. State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb, on Monday, met the family members of the deceased at Chaturgachh under Chopra police station.


The Minister accused the BJP activists of creating unnecessary chaos and stated that the men involved behind the crime and the ones creating unrest will be punished soon. He further accused the BJP state president of passing unnecessary comments without having the proper knowledge regarding the case.

Minister Deb further stated that the police have launched an impartial and proper investigation to provide justice to the victim.


Apart from Goutam Deb, Malda’s TMC leader Mausam Benazir Noor was also spotted today. She expressed outrage and accused BJP of creating communal division and politicizing the incident.

“We have come here following the instructions of the Chief Minister. Police have already launched investigations. We highly condemn the heinous incident and justice should be provided soon,” she added.

Besides, State Labor Minister Golam Rabbani, Islampur Municipality Administrator and District Trinamool Congress President Kanailal Agarwal, Chopra MLA Hamidul Rahman, and many others were present on behalf of the ruling party.

On the other hand, the deceased’s family members broke down into tears in front of the Minister and other party representatives.
