Siliguri, 30th December: Country’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India offers services not only for civilians but also for defence and paramilitary forces. The SBI Defence Salary Package (DSP) account is meant for Defence personnel of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Assam Rifles, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and GREF [Border Road Organisation (BRO)].
On Thursday, through the Defence Salary Package (DSP), Ashok Kumar Mahakul, General Manager – State Bank of India, handed over a cheque of Rs 30 lakh to Mandira Rai, wife of Havaldar Satpal Rai from Takdah, Darjeeling. The braveheart was martyred in the tragic incident of Indian Air Force’s helicopter crash on December 8, which claimed the lives of India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife – President of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Madhulika Rawat, along with other brave personnel.
