Centre has reduced tax on petrol and diesel, now it’s State’s turn to do the same: Raju Bista

Siliguri, 13th November: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, while addressing the media at the Bagdogra Airport, said that the Central Government has declared the birth anniversary of the Indian tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda on November 15 as Tribal Day. The MP called the decision a matter of pride for the entire country along with the tribal society.

Apart from this, taking a jibe at the West Bengal government regarding petrol and diesel, Bista said that the central government has reduced the tax on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively. And now it is the state government’s turn to reduce fuel prices in the state.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee keeps making statements about petrol and diesel from time to time. Now it’s their turn to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel and lessen the burden on the public,” Bista added. He further added that the reason for such an increase in the price of petrol and diesel is the then UPA Congress government formed after the 2004 general election. “The Congress government had signed an oil bond worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore. Which is still being paid off by the present Central Government,” the MP added.
