Siliguri, 01st August: The Census 2027 process officially began on Saturday, with the first phase allowing citizens to submit their details online through the self-enumeration facility. Marking the launch of the exercise in Siliguri, Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh filled the self-enumeration form using his mobile phone at his residence.
Officials and staff of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation visited the minister’s residence and explained the self-enumeration process. Shankar Ghosh then filled and submitted the required details through the designated online portal using his mobile phone.
Speaking to reporters after submitting the form, the minister said the Census is an important national exercise that plays a crucial role in the country’s development, future planning, and ensuring government services reach people more effectively.
He also urged citizens not only to fill their own forms but also to help family members, neighbours, senior citizens, and those unfamiliar with technology complete the self-enumeration process. He said the Census can be conducted smoothly and efficiently with everyone’s cooperation.
