Phansidewa, 6th March: A case of cattle smuggling in an LPG tanker has been foiled by the police, leading to the rescue of 16 cattle and the arrest of an individual. The accused has been identified as Khushnud Khan.
According to reports, officers from Phansidewa’s Bidhannagar Investigation Centre stopped the gas tanker during ‘naka checking’ in the Dangapara area after hearing a loud noise coming from inside. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 16 cattle hidden inside.
Sources revealed that the rescued cattle were being transported from Bihar to Assam. On Thursday, the arrested accused was presented before the Siliguri court. The police of Bidhannagar Investigation Centre have initiated an investigation into the incident.
