Car rams into a house in NJP Gate Bazar, one dead, eight injured

Siliguri, 02nd December: One person lost his life while eight were seriously injured after a car lost control and rammed into a house, on Tuesday night. The incident surfaced from the NJP Gate Bazar area.


Reportedly, around 10 pm last night, a four-wheeler car coming from Tinbatti More hit an e-rickshaw (Toto) driver who was standing on the roadside and rammed into the railway quarters. Several people have been injured in the incident. The locals claim that the car driver was drunk when the accident occurred.


Locals rushed the injured individuals to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where Sunil Kumar Raut (30) was declared dead. At present, eight injured people, including a 5-year-old child, are undergoing treatment. The toto driver is currently in critical condition.

Following the incident, the angry mob vandalized the vehicle. The NJP police reached the spot to bring the situation under control and seized the car.

As the accused driver is absconding since the incident, the Police detained Kamal Mirdha, a relative of the accused driver, and took him to the police station.

District Trinamool president Ranjan Sarkar visited the accident spot at Gatebazar today. He met the families of the deceased and the injured individuals and assured to help them.
