Siliguri, 04th June: In a significant achievement, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police along with the undercover cops of Bhakti Nagar Police Station, today, arrested a couple and their three accomplices with brown sugar worth crores of rupees, along with cash. The arrested couple has been identified as Gadai Biswas and Saraswati Biswas, while, the three accomplices are Sagirth Sheikh Asmat Ali, Triptimay Baidya, and Ravi Bishwakarma.
According to sources, the SOG and the undercover cops of Bhakti Nagar Police Station, acting on a tip-off, recovered rupees 7 lakhs in cash, along with one kilogram of brown sugar. The operation was undertaken in a house located in Chayanpara, under Ward no. 37 of Siliguri, following which, 5 individuals have been arrested.
Reportedly, the arrested couple has been involved in drug smuggling for a long time. Godai Biswas brought drugs from outside the city, while his wife used to sell drugs in Siliguri over the phone. Meanwhile, today, Sagirth and Triptimay had come to deliver the drugs, during which, all the accused were arrested. At present, the Police are involved in further investigation.
