Brother-in-law accused of attacking youth in Siliguri’s Tikiapara amid allegations of drug abuse

Siliguri, 28th May: Allegations of nuisance by intoxicated youths have surfaced once again from the Tikiapara area under Ward No. 28 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation after a youth was seriously injured during a violent altercation. The incident has triggered tension in the locality.

According to sources, two youths allegedly under the influence of intoxicating substances got involved in a fight on Monday. At that time, their relative Rahul Kamti (22) came out after hearing the commotion and tried to calm the situation.

Family members alleged that Rahul’s brother-in-law Raju suddenly attacked him on the neck with a car key, leaving him seriously injured and bleeding on the spot. He was immediately rushed to Siliguri District Hospital by family members, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The family alleged that despite informing the police immediately after the incident, no FIR was registered for three consecutive days despite repeated visits to the police station. According to them, the complaint was finally accepted on Thursday after local residents collectively mounted pressure.

Family members further alleged that the accused is still roaming freely in the area and threatening the victim’s family. They claimed that the accused has openly stated that the police would not be able to take any action against him.

Rahul’s mother broke down in tears while speaking to reporters and demanded justice for her son. She also urged authorities to stop the alleged open sale of intoxicating substances in the area.

The incident has intensified tension in Tikiapara. Local residents alleged that drug-related activities have been increasing in the locality for a long time and warned that stricter administrative action is needed to prevent more serious incidents in the future.
