Siliguri, 22nd May: The body of an unidentified person was recovered from the Noukaghat area of Siliguri on Friday morning. The body was found lying in a bush near the bank of the Mahananda River by a local resident who had gone out for a morning walk. The resident immediately informed people in the locality.
Police from NJP Police Station reached the spot after being alerted and recovered the body. It has been sent for post-mortem examination. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
According to reports, no clothes or personal belongings were found near the body, raising suspicion among locals. Some residents have speculated that it could be a case of murder, where the body was dumped after the crime.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and are examining all possible angles.
