Siliguri, 09th August: Sensation prevailed in the area of Baribasha Thangbhanga More when a person’s body was recovered from a veranda. The 40 years old deceased has been identified as Ratan Barman. He was a woodcutter.
According to the information, the wife of the deceased found his body on their veranda while sweeping the house this morning. The deceased had many signs of injuries and marks on his body. The Jalpaiguri Police arrived shortly after receiving the news and recovered the body and sent it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Reportedly, one person has been detained for questioning. The police have started investigating the incident by going through the CCTV footage of the area, police sources said. Meanwhile, the family members alleged that Ratan Barman was murdered. According to the deceased’s wife Bharti Barman and son Laxman Barman, the deceased did not have any kind of enmity with anyone, but they are certain that he was killed.
