Siliguri, 08th January: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to campaign in support of Ranjit Biswas, an independent candidate of Ward No. 46. The BJP Siliguri Organizational District President Anandamoy Barman made the announcement during a press conference at the party office in Mallaguri, today.
Barman stated that in the year 2015, Malti Roy had won the election from Ward No. 01. This year, the party had fielded Roy in Ward No. 46 for the upcoming SMC election. But due to some issue with the caste certificate, her nomination was cancelled. Hence, the party has decided to support Ranjit Biswas, a former worker of BJP, who will be contesting as an independent candidate.
During the press conference, Jalpaiguri District BJP MP Dr Jayanta Roy felicitated Ranjit Vishwas with a khada.
