BJP takes out ‘Dhikkar Rally’ against communal violence in Bangladesh

Siliguri, 21st October: Joining the entire country in demonstrating against the communal violence in Bangladesh, a protest rally was taken out from Siliguri Hashmi Chowk on behalf of Siliguri Organizational District BJP, on Thursday. The rally toured Sevoke More, Airview More (MG More), and concluded in Hashmi Chowk.

Addressing the media, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamay Barman said, “Hindus are being attacked in Bangladesh. The idol of Maa Durga and the pandal were set on fire. We highly condemn these incidents.” He further warned of staging larger demonstrations against the Bangladesh government if the culprits are not punished.

It is to be noted, the Hindus have been facing tremendous violence in Bangladesh ever since Durga Puja. Several Durga idols were vandalized while around 20 Hindu villages were burnt. The Bangladeshi Hindus were forced to immerse the idols of the Goddess in the middle of the festival as the idols and pandals were completely vandalized.
